The solar eclipse will occur at Luxor in the 2nd of August. In that moment, the Moon will completely obscure the Sun and cast a Moon shadow over Earth, beginning an incredible 6 minutes and 20 seconds of priceless totality.

For Pharaohs, the eclipse was considered a struggle between the serpent Apophis and the sun god, as the snake symbolizes evil and chaos, and it tries hard to sink the solar boat that transports the sun, but it fails every time.

According to the Encyclopedia of Egyptian Researchers, the ancient Egyptians did not keep specific records of solar eclipses, and there is no doubt that an event like this did not go unnoticed by those Egyptians interested in astronomy, especially since they worshiped the sun. Some scholars have suggested that the eclipse events were deliberately not recorded because they represented a somber event in the eyes of the ancient Egyptians, and were therefore ignored so as not to immortalize them in any way, or arouse the wrath of Ra, the sun god.

According to Egyptian mythology, the world briefly sank into darkness when the giant serpent Apep sucked up the sun god Ra during an eclipse. The people performed rites and ceremonies, such as noisily beating pots and drums to frighten away the serpent and safeguard the sun deity, in order to fend off this cosmic menace.

In Luxor, the site of ancient Thebes, is set to host the 2027 Eclipse:
• The Valley of the Kings, a collection of rock-cut tombs, is the most popular spot due to its symmetric architecture and cliff-face location.
• Other popular spots include the "Deir el Bahri" walk and the Colossi of Memnon in Theban Necropolis.
• Other popular locations include the Valley of the Queens, the Karnak complex, and Luxor Temple.

Absolutely mind blowing. A definite must see. We flew from Aswan after I contact them, as I did not want to sit in car for hours with my 10-year-old daughter. Just so much history and ancient love. You cannot miss this one thing if you are in Cairo. The rocks are just HUGE, so special.
