The GEM Full Opening Is Here: What to Expect

After years of anticipation, construction, and the world’s attention, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is finally set to open its doors officially on November 1, 2025.

Since it’s been talked about, the GEM has been one of the most ambitious cultural projects in modern history. As the museum is fully opened, it will stand not only as the largest archaeological museum in the world, but also as a great symbol of Egypt’s enduring legacy and its commitment to preserving and showcasing its ancient civilization in a 21st-century context.

The tickets reopening for the public will be on November 4, which also coincides with the 103rd anniversary of the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb — a fitting tribute to Egypt’s most famous boy king, whose legacy has captivated the world for over a century.

The Grand Egyptian Museum will house over 100,000 artifacts, spanning Egypt’s vast timeline from the prehistoric period to the Greco-Roman era. While many of these items were previously held in older institutions such as the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, thousands of pieces will be exhibited for the first time ever — having undergone restoration in GEM’s state-of-the-art conservation labs.

Among the most highly anticipated new features is the entire, fully preserved collection of King Tutankhamun’s tomb, which will be displayed in its entirety and in context for the first time. This includes over 5,000 objects — jewelry, weapons, chariots, clothing, ritual items, and the famous golden funerary mask — arranged as they were originally found in the Valley of the Kings in 1922. This exhibit alone is expected to be a major international draw.

The official opening of GEM is far more than just a museum launch — it is a national and international event. For Egypt, the GEM is their pride, which designed to redefine its cultural identity and strengthen its position on the global stage.

The museum’s opening is being watched closely by everyone. The scale of the GEM project, combined with its scientific and technological innovations, sets a new standard for how world heritage can survive and also communicate to future generations!

Now, for the first time, the Grand Egyptian Museum is yours to explore — whether side by side with the world on guided tour, or in the quiet wonder of a private access tour, where every artifact feels like it’s speaking just to you!
