Our representative will pick you up in Alexandria and then transfer you to Alexandria Airport for your flight to Luxor. Upon arrival at Luxor Airport, you will be accompanied by your Egyptologist guide on a private air-conditioned vehicle to visit the famous Karnak Temples, which is considered the largest place of worship ever built. Thereafter, you will have lunch at a local restaurant. Following this, you will go to the West Bank of the River Nile to visit the two colossal statues of Amenhotep III (Colossi of Memnon). After you visit the Giza Pyramids, you will go to the most important Museum in the World, the Egyptian Museum Of Antiquities. It houses a rare collection of more than 250,000 genuine artifacts, including the treasures of King Tutankhamen. Following your visit to the Museum, you will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
If the time permits it, you will enjoy the ancient sites and culture of Coptic Christians on a private tour through Old Cairo. You will first tour the Hanging Church which was built into the walls of the water gate of the Roman fortress and is possibly the oldest Christian church in Egypt. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, it is one of Cairo's most beautiful churches. Continue to the Monastery and Church of Saint George. It is one of the few remaining circular churches in the Middle East. Your next stop is the Abu Serga, one of the places where the Holy Family rested after fleeing Israel from King Herod. At the turn of the century this little church, which dates from the 10th-century, was the most important pilgrimage spot in Old Cairo for visiting Christian tourists. 24 marble columns are lining the central court and a series of 12th-century icons depict the 12 apostles. Thereafter, you will visit the Ben Ezra Synagogue which is one of the oldest synagogues in Egypt. Set in a shady garden, it was built on the site of a 4th-century Christian church. The synagogue has been almost completely renovated. In the evening you will be transferred to Alexandria Port on a private air-conditioned van.
