Tour Itinerary

Join Your Egypt Tours on an exciting journey to Alexandria from Cairo. Immerse yourself in the Mediterranean atmosphere as you explore Egypt’s second-largest city. Famous for the Roman remains present, your personal Egyptologist will accompany you and introduce you to this city’s fascinating sites. As this is a private tour, you will be able to determine how much time you would like to spend at each site.

Your first stop in this historic city is the catacombs of Kom ash-Shuqqafa, a Roman burial site whose family tomb reveals the merging of Egyptian and Roman art and architecture. Explore this fascinating tomb further by descending further below ground to visit the Caracalla Hall.

Continue your journey across Alexandria above ground by visiting Pompey’s Pillar, a wondrous structure constructed from granite that stands over 82 feet tall. This pillar was built to honor Emperor Diocletian, who freed the besieged cavity and brought food to its starving people. Proceed to the Fort of Qaitbay, built in 1477 to protect the eastern side of the city from invaders. This fort was constructed at the location where the Lighthouse of Alexandria once stood. Your personal guide will introduce you to the fort and familiarize you with its significance throughout the history of Alexandria.

You will have the option to pause your tour for lunch at a local restaurant (at an additional cost), before proceeding to the Alexandria Library. This striking Norwegian-designed building demonstrates striking differences from the ancient architecture found throughout Egypt. A copy of every book published in the world is stored here, making it one of the greatest literary sites in the world. The library also houses several exhibits relating to the history of Egypt and displays rare antique books (optional, at an additional cost).

Please Note: The Library of Alexandria is closed on Fridays and Saturdays

At the conclusion of your tour, return to your hotel to spend the evening in relaxation.

Travel has helped us to understand the meaning of life and it has helped us become better people. Each time we travel, we see the world with new eyes.

Absolutely mind blowing. A definite must see. We flew from Aswan after I contact them, as I did not want to sit in car for hours with my 10-year-old daughter. Just so much history and ancient love. You cannot miss this one thing if you are in Cairo. The rocks are just HUGE, so special.

I recently traveled with my wife, daughter, son in law and two grandsons (ages 4 and 2). We had a private tour experience. From the moment we landed at the airport on our arrival to the day we left we were treated with the utmost care and attention

Our trip to was wonderful. The accommodations and travel was seamlessly arranged by customer service rep, Mona, and we visited so many of the famous Egyptian antiquities. I would not have done the trip without the very knowledgeable guides, Ashraf and Mamdouh
